The Other Side of EDC

EDC calls itself an “oversize adult playground” for good reason. Because it is. See: the carnival rides, the immersive art installations and our handy guide to everything happening at the festival that doesn’t involve DJs:

1) Pick some daisies. As is tradition, the entire grounds will be covered in giant sculptures and paintings of brightly glowing, neon-colored daisies—the festival’s signature emblem. There’ll even be oversize daisies perched above the crowd sprinkling cooling mist on everyone. It’s like EDM’s version of central air.

2) Go on a joyride. You’ll get your pick from a host of carnival attractions—including freewheeling roller coasters and a humongous Ferris wheel. A word of advice: wait till dusk to ride the wheel for the best view.

3) Dance with fire-breathers. More than 500 stilt-walking, fire-breathing and face-painted performers—most likely plucked from Vegas’s superclubs—will be roaming the crowds, spinning on stage or even dangling from the sky. Keep your head on a swivel.

4) Take in the fireworks. Expect the night sky to be continuously ablaze with fireworks displays, beams of lasers, columns of fire and flashing LED lights. Vegas sure has a way with the lights.

Red Bull Editions. They’re available in three flavors—cranberry, lime and blueberry. It’s the liquid energy that’s going to carry you through the festival.
