Meet the World’s Only Mormon Superstar DJ

Full name: Kaskade

Aliases: DJ Radon, Ryan Raddon

Age: 43

Hometown: Chicago

The bio: EDM is, unequivocally, party music. Therefore, EDM is not the music of people who religiously forswear alcohol and caffeine—unless you happen to be Kaskade, the world’s first (and only) devoutly Mormon celebrity DJ.

After honing his skills in his dorm room at Brigham Young University, Kaskade completed a two-year missionary stint in Japan before embarking on the path toward international superstardom. Buoyed by the rising popularity of progressive house in the mid-2000s, Kaskade worked his way up to headliner status, scooping up Grammy nominations and DJ Times awards for “America’s Best DJ” along the way.

When this guy does the “DJ Jesus pose,” he really means it.

The must-hear: “Turn It Down,” his infectious pop hit with Rebecca & Fiona, and “I Remember,” his moody progressive house classic with Deadmau5.

Sounds like: Jesus Christ Superstar, with more bass.
